FLORA FRIENDS

I am getting in touch because you have approached us in the past year to request a Talk from Plantlife.

I am sorry that we do not have the staff resources to give talks throughout the UK. Instead we are now building up a network of knowledgeable volunteers to help us - Flora Friends.

We are launching our new Flora Friends scheme now and the newly revised powerpoint talk, script, and Pack is available to successful applicants.

See this webpage for more details:
http://www.plantlife.org.uk/support_us/florafriend/

Would you, or a member of your community or interest group, be interested in this voluntary role?

Flora Friends who take this on and volunteer over a period of time with us receive a certificate, and will feature on our website and may be included in our magazine.

If you, or someone you know, is interested, please do contact me - or ask them to contact me. It could suit students of ecology, or retired people wanting to develop new activities.

To be eligible to become a Flora Friend you simply have be a current member of Plantlife, and want to play an active part in wild plant conservation.

I hope to hear from you!

With best wishes Alison Craig

SIGNPOST

Along with more Internet links that can prove useful for Group Leaders and others can be found in the U3A Signpost. Below is extracted one recent item.
All Groups:
The web is absolutely stuffed with fascinating educational videos on every subject imaginable. No Internet connection where you meet? No matter - these videos are easily downloaded to a laptop to be played back and projected later onto a screen or a convenient wall.

The software to do this is 'Replay Media Catcher' and in the opinion of this writer every local group should have it as well as the digital projector that turns every home or hall into a private cinema. Both software and hardware are well worth the purchase price.
