Two Science Events organised by the U3A

A flyer advertising the 2010 Dana Event which will take place on 24th March 2010 at the Royal Society in London.  Until last week it looked as though problems with the DANA organisation in America were such that it would not be possible to hold an event for U3A members at all this year.  However, thanks to an enormous effort by Sylvie Hammerson of EDAB, it will be taking place and as you will see from the flyer, it looks excellent.  I should be grateful if you would let your members know as soon as possible, as we have already had a lot of enquiries about it.  Details will also be available in the mailings section of our website.
2. Full programme details for ‘U3A Explores Science at the Ri’ which is on 30th March.  Tickets are going quickly so please encourage your members to book.

USING YOUR CAMERA

USING YOUR CAMERA
We plan to run another class beginning on 26th March 2010. and every 4 weeks through the summer. This will be a longer time then last year and so it will give you more time to get really aquainted with your camera and how to get the best from it.

Here we will try to show you how to control your camera for the optimum results. We ask that you bring your camera with fully charged batteries and the Instruction Book.

You can see the further dates by looking at out timetable on this link.

Salisbury Freecycle

I have put a link to the Salisbury Freecycle group on the front page.  This is a friendly and easy way of giving unwanted items to folk who need them. This is better than dumping things in the dustbin or the landfill. It costs nothing.

Great Opportunity for all U3As with a Family History Study Group

We are taking a stand at ‘Who Do You Think You Are? LIVE 2010’ event which is taking place at Olympia between 26-28th February. It is the country’s biggest and most comprehensive family history event and it would be great to have input from U3A family history groups. So, if there have been interesting discoveries made in your family history groups it would be marvellous to receive a short report from you, ideally as an email attachment and if there happens to be a relevant photograph, that would be great. We will then try to incorporate as many of these as possible into our exhibition.
We also need volunteers for the stand and would appreciate hearing from anybody who could offer some time.
